Official Airport Policy
Smoking is permitted in a bar in the McNamara Terminal and the main Northwest Airlines World Club at the World Gateway Terminal. Prior to the addition of the new bar where smoking is permitted, Detroit County Airport was 100% smokefree.
Notes
Please send a letter to Director Braun to express your disappointment that the Detroit County Airport changed their policy to allow smoking in the new terminal's bar and urge him to protect the health of airport patrons and employees by making the airport completely smokefree again.

I have been invited to a conference in Ann Arbor and would need to fly in to your airport. I have lung disease and cannot inhale even small amounts of drifting tobacco smoke. I read on your web site of the smoking bar at the Northwest terminal. I would fly in on Southwest. Is that in a separate terminal, and is it completely smoke-free? Thank you.

Your message was received by the Public Affairs Division of the Wayne County Airport Authority.
Southwest Airlines operates out of the Smith Terminal which is a smoke-free facility. However, as with most public building, you may pass by someone outside the terminal who is smoking.
Have a great trip.
